I’m an illustrator who cuts paper and glues it back together. My interest in this medium began in 6th grade, after a fortuitous run-in with construction paper. After working in several print shops, I picked up a fondness for paper and a sizable scrap collection to boot. I make my art with these rescued scraps, as well as other papers I’ve liberated store shelves and junk mail alike.
My process can vary from piece to piece, but generally I start with a tracing paper sketch which I use to copy shapes onto paper. Then I cut out those shapes and glue them together. Usually, I’ll mount these layered papers on foamcore to add depth to the final piece.
